Sweet liqueur wine ennobled by a long stay in wood. Reminiscent of orange blossoms, with a delicate almond aroma and candied fruit; the attack is soft, warm and delicately alcoholic, with a very long aftertaste and a finish of apricot and fig. In the vinification The must is processed according to the liqueur method to which the 24-month stay in oak barrels gives a significant added value. Given the oxidation reached in the maturation process, the wine can be kept for many years in the bottle. The aging in wood allows it a sweet texture with a nice dry finish; for this reason it does not overload the palate but on the contrary pleases it and then leaves it pleasantly clean and light. Thanks to the dry finish, it goes well with foie gras and blue cheeses.

SIZE / WEIGHT: 0.375 L bottles

ORIGIN: Umbria.

FEATURES: Sweet wine with an intense and brilliant topaz color.

GRAPES: Trebbiano and other traditional white varieties .

ALCOHOL: 16% vol.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: Room temperature or chilled.

STORAGE METHOD: in a cool place away from sunlight.

SPECIFIC NOTES: Contains sulphites

PRODUCER: Lungarotti a.r.l.

The Muffato Pourriture Noble of "Decugnano dei Barbi" is a dessert wine produced with grapes naturally attacked by Botrytis Cinerea. It is a rare type of wine in Italy, which is inspired by the famous French models of Sauternes. The particular microclimate of the Decugnano dei Barbi estate, with the presence of mists during the harvest period, allows the development of the precious noble rot, which gives the wine a unique aromatic profile and inimitable with aromas of candied fruit, citrus peel, honey and the characteristic and delicate musty notes.

Features: The color is full and brilliant golden yellow. The origin of the name Decugnano is obscure and is lost over the centuries, but already in 1212 these lands produced wine for the clergy of Orvieto. They were the lands of the church of Santa Maria di Decugnano. In 1973 Claudio Barbi found Decugnano abandoned and immediately fell in love with it. The first wines came out in 1978 and the success was immediate. Did you know that? Decugnano dei Barbi produced the first Umbrian classic method (vintage 1978) and the first Italian noble rot (vintage 1981). The tremendous upheavals of geological eras, time and the hand of man have created a unique terroir in Decugnano dei Barbi. The soils are ocean beds from the Pliocene era. The vineyards have their roots in the sandy and clayey earth, among fossil shells and oysters, giving that mineral and marine character characteristic of our wines. The altitude of over 300 meters favors the right ventilation and an ideal temperature range to enhance the perfumes. While the optimal exposure of the vineyards to the sun guarantees perfect ripening of the grapes.

On autumn mornings, a thick fog envelops the vineyards of Orvieto Classico. The grapes, in this particular microclimate, are gradually attacked by a particular mould, the "Botrytis Cinerea" which, if particular atmospheric conditions occur, transforms into "Muffa Nobile". The morning humidity alternating with a mild and breezy afternoon climate is the sine qua non for this magic to manifest itself. This Mold feeds, from the outside, on the liquid content of the fruit where it takes root, dehydrates the berry, concentrating its sugars and acidity. The "Botrytis Cinerea" thus enhances the organoleptic complexity of the wine, giving it unique and unmistakable aromatic and gustatory notes. For the harvest, at least five or six successive harvests are necessary, repeated at different times, distributed between October and December, in order to collect only the fruits that have taken root from the "Muffa Nobile" and from time to time leave those not yet ready on the plant. The musts obtained are particularly dense, rich and fragrant. The subsequent fermentation takes place slowly and constantly for a prolonged period and stops naturally.

SIZE / WEIGHT: 0.50 litres.

ORIGIN: Umbria.

FEATURES: Golden yellow in colour, elegant and enveloping aroma of acacia honey and spicy and saffron scents; Taste: Oily and persuasive, harmoniously soft, sweet and persistent.
A fascinating union between Sauvignon Blanc, Grechetto, Traminer, Sémillon and Riesling grapes and the unique terroir of Castello della Sala. The bunches, touched by the morning mists and favored by the particular microclimate, are given over to the Noble Mould, Botrytis Cinerea, which reduces the water content, concentrating the sugars and giving the Muffato its characteristic aromas.

Characteristics: Muffato della Sala 2016 has a bright and intense golden yellow colour. The nose is deep and complex, citrus scents stand out combined with delicate notes of peach, dehydrated apricot and saffron. On the palate it is enveloping, sweet but not too much, slightly iodized, with a very long persistence. He is poised even in his youth; a wine destined to evolve over time by increasing its aromatic complexity.

Method: The grapes come from the vineyards of Castello della Sala, located between 200 and 450 meters above sea level. on clayey soils, rich in marine fossils. The grapes were harvested manually by returning to the same vineyard several times in relation to the state of the grapes. After being transferred to the cellar, the bunches were further selected on a sorting belt. A light pressing without destemming followed. After pressing, the must fermented for 18 days at a temperature of around 17°C. The wine obtained, still sweet, was transferred to French oak barriques (Alliers & Tronçais) where it matured for about 6 months before continuing the refinement in steel for a further 2 years.

SIZE / WEIGHT: 0.5 L bottles.

ORIGIN: Umbria.

GRAPES: Sauvignon Blanc, Grechetto, Sémillon, Traminer and Riesling.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16/18°C

ALCOHOL: 13% vol.

STORAGE METHOD: Cool place away from sunlight.

SPECIFIC NOTES: Contains sulphites.

PRODUCER: Marchesi Antinori - Tenuta Castello della Sala, Orvieto (TR).
