Hofstätter srl - Termeno (BZ).

Cantine J.Hofstatter

For five generations, our family has been cultivating its vineyards on both sides of the Adige valley. Located in the heart of the historic village of Termeno, our estate extends between the peaks of nearby Trentino and the steep slopes of the Saar, in the Moselle wine region, in Germany. We combine tradition, pioneering spirit, respect for nature and innovation. We love what we do: we live wine. The different terroirs and the different microclimates determine the character of our wines. For five generations we have been cultivating each vine where it can best express itself. Our own vineyards extend on both sides of the Adige valley and at the end of the Ronchi valley in Trentino. Since 2014 we have been producing our Rieslings in the Moselle, the most suitable wine-growing area in Germany in the world for this noble variety. Our vines have their roots on plateaus and hills at altitudes ranging between 250 and 850 metres. Depending on which slope they are located on, the rows are reached by fresh mountain breezes or warm south winds, by the morning or evening sun. Ours was the first South Tyrolean company to include the "Vigna" on the label, identifying the wines that come from single vineyards, in the most suitable parcels.

History of borders changed several times, empires disappeared, past wars. of people who stopped here. It is the story of a man who went through two world wars, lived first in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and then in the young Kingdom of Italy, lived on the rocky coast of the Istrian peninsula and in the lagoon Grado. Livio Felluga moved to Friuli in the late 1930s, to settle on the gentle foothills of the Rosazzo hills. His dream of producing hill wine was interrupted by his call to the front. As if that weren't enough, the return to Italy was not easy for the veterans of the Second World War: the physical, political and ethnic borders had changed, distorted forever, like the agricultural and social landscape of the hill itself. The peasant population was leaving, further impoverishing the land and abandoning the crops, values and traditions associated with it. Livio Felluga had to undertake a new battle to resurrect the hill, convinced that only the rebirth of quality cultivation could bring life back to the Friuli countryside. With great courage he began to restore the ancient vineyards of Rosazzo and plant new ones, introducing innovative ideas and methods. Hard work, undertaken with great stubbornness and passion which over the years will lead him to create one of the most beautiful and significant companies in the Belpaese, acquiring the rightful title of re-founder of the Friulian winemaking tradition and reference actor of the Italian wine renaissance .
