And in the festive procession of taste, the wine sat on the royal throne. Restaurant and hotelier in the Upper Friuli, Paron Mario soon sensed that his mission was to excite people with his special love for wine and that to really do the wine he had to produce it with his own hands. 1969 was the year in which he acquired the first vineyards in Collio, the year in which the great adventure began. A compelling adventure that saw the children Luciano, Gianfranco and Loris who saw his protagonists. The three made a virtue of his father's teachings, learning to touch and hear the earth, support the passage of time and seasons, taste the grapes and to see the secret of a small great miracle inside. So in the years to come the lands owned by the family increased and many dreams became reality. That small farm today, with the third generation represented by Marco, Stefano and Mariaelena, has turned into a cellar with an international prestige, ambassador of Friulian wine art in the world. But the origins are not forgotten and, above all, the flame of passion is increasingly alive. Once upon a time there was a man, the first hero and author of a fairy tale, who wrote the first page by signing it with an indelible imprint. This book entitled "Fantinel" is to be savored with ecstasy. Wine is an ancient feeling, a work that makes the world better. It is a mosaic of emotions, a masterpiece composed of precious stones expertly placed next to each other with genius, creativity, inventiveness. But a good creator knows that every artistic form was born, always and in any case from the respectful celebration of the original creation. Honoring the earth is Fantinel's first vocation. A vocation that has its beating heart in Tauriano, near the ancient village of Spilimbergo, a citizen of culture known all over the world for his prestigious mosaicist school. Here stands an elegant cellar surrounded by greenery, from which the management of over 300 hectares of vineyards is treated divided into the renowned areas of severe DOC, Prosecco, Collio. Unique terroir, privileged areas that enjoy microclimates ideal for the optimal ripening of the fruits and the maximum expression of each grape variety, among which the precious native grapes stand out. From these authentic caskets of rare gifts the peculiar conception of Fantinel is coined: a viticulture that is viticulture. Because only a screw that grows according to the natural rhythms, based on respect for the vegetative cycle and the balance of the plant, can give life to rich fruits and, of course, to majestic wines: harmonious paintings that radiate the light of the sun, emanating the infinite shades of the colors of the earth.

The Bastianich company, founded in 1997, consists of 27 hectares of vineyards. All the vineyards are located on the Colli Orientali del Friuli, in two distinct areas falling within the DOC area. The history of this land has deep roots. Viticulture in this region has been practiced since the 2nd century BC. , with the advent of the Romans who were the first to plant the vine. The millenary tradition, the particular clayey-marly soil called "ponca" and the numerous microclimates created by the winds of the Julian Alps and the proximity to the Adriatic Sea make the Colli Orientali del Friuli region one of the most suitable in Friuli Venezia Giulia. It is these unique characteristics that allow the wines of this Doc to be particularly elegant and mineral, with a strong character that fully communicates the terroir.

History of boundaries changed several times, disappeared empires, past wars . of people who stopped here. It is the story of a man who has gone through two world wars, lived in the Austro -Hungarian Empire first and in the young kingdom of Italy then, he lived on the rocky coast of the Istrian peninsula and in the lagoon degree. Livio Felluga moved to Friuli at the end of the 1930s, to settle on the sweet buttresses of the hills of Rosazzo. His dream of producing hill wine was interrupted by the call to the front. As if that were not enough, the return to Italy was not easy for the veterans of the Second World War: the physical, political and ethnic boundaries had changed, distorted forever, as the same agricultural and social landscape of the hill. The peasant population was leaving, further imposing the earth and abandoning crops, values and traditions linked to it. Livio Felluga had to undertake a new battle to resurrect the hill, convinced that only the rebirth of quality cultivation could bring life back to the Friulian countryside. With great courage he began to restore the ancient vineyards of Rosazzo and implant new ones, introducing innovative ideas and methods. A hard work, undertaken with great stubbornness and passion that will lead him over the years to create one of the most beautiful and significant corporate realities of the Belpaese, acquiring the title of re -founder of the Friulian winemaking tradition and reference actor of the Italian winemaker .

Livio Felluga's Sharis is a light wine obtained from Chardonnay and Ribolla Gialla grapes, the result is a fresh and fragrant white wine, with citrus, fruity aromas and delicate floral nuances. It combines the elegant and intense notes of a noble international vine such as Chardonnay with the more essential and citrusy profile of Ribolla Gialla, the most widespread native white berried variety in Friuli Venezia Giulia. A wine that symbolically represents the point of synthesis between the tradition of the area and the centuries-old vocation of these lands to host the historic vines of French origin.

Procedure: To obtain this wine, the grapes are delicately stemmed and left to macerate for a short time. Subsequently it is softly pressed and the must obtained is clarified by decanting. The fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel containers. At the end of fermentation, the wine is kept on the lees for six months. The bottled wine is normally stored in temperature-controlled rooms for at least two months.

Features: Canary yellow color with golden reflections, its scent is intense and captivating. Elegant notes of white and yellow flowers: jasmine, lily of the valley, golden lily and mimosa and fresh fruity hints of lime, hook and golden apple. Lemon custard finish. The taste is lively, balanced and enveloping. Pleasant presence of ripe white fruit, medlar, white cherry, gooseberry and kiwi. Balsamic hints on the finish and good persistence with a citrus aftertaste.

Pairings: Excellent as an aperitif, it goes very well with asparagus, vegetable soups, legume purées and marinated fish .

SIZE / WEIGHT: 0,75 l bottles.

ORIGIN: Friuli Venezia Giulia.

GRAPES: Chardonnay - Ribolla Gialla.

ALCOHOL: 13% vol.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: Temperature between 8/10°.

STORAGE METHOD: in a cool place away from light of the sun.

SPECIFIC NOTES: Contains sulphites.

PRODUCER: Livio Felluga - Corno di Rosazzo (UD).

History of Livio Felluga

It is easy to understand how the story of Livio Felluga and his wine is intertwined with the story of that particular land that surrounds the extreme north-east of the Adriatic, the point of contact between the Mediterranean and central Europe.
The vine, of French origin, was introduced in Friuli during the domination of the Habsburgs and was disclosed in the early 1900s. Livio Felluga's Sauvignon is the finest expression of the vine on the terroir of the Friulian hills. A tribute to his own hills is the famous map label with which Livio Felluga won the favor of the world, telling the story of an Italy that was able to "believe in the power of the hills" when it was the factories that attracted workers, transmitting to his children and his bottles, the love for the land and the passion for wine.

Features: The Sauvignon DOC 2019 "Livio Felluga" is a fresh and captivating wine, with unmistakable and multiple aromas in which notes of exotic fruit, yellow pepper, tomato leaves, mint, lantana and boxwood stand out. It is a traditional Friulian wine that has a straw yellow colour with slight green reflections; full, bright and fresh. The perfume is intense, typical, elegant and articulated.

Tasting: The richness of aromas highlights the fruit with blackcurrant, passion fruit , the white melon; flowers with lantana, elderflower, orange blossom; spices with chilli and ginger; and freshness with lemon grass, oregano, marjoram and mint leaves. The varietal notes of boxwood and tomato leaf are combined with slight citrus hints of lime and grapefruit. The taste is broad, fresh, rich and balanced. The complexity of the aromas finds excellent correspondence on the palate. Hints of lime and sage blend with an explosion of tropical fruit and ripe fruit. Great freshness, pleasant sapidity and balanced acidity. Excellent as an aperitif, it goes very well with asparagus, vegetable soups, vegetable soups and marinated fish.

Pairings: A versatile wine, which goes well with appetizers, but also fish dishes.
Pinot Grigio Bastianich is a wine of great ductility and elegance, which bears witness to the deep bond between the well-known family and the Friuli area, including its native vines. A history that has deep roots, closely influenced by a strong passion for wine and the growth of the region as regards the production of quality bottles. A journey to rediscover their origins, which led the Bastianichs, now resident in America, to plant the first vineyards in Buttrio and Cividale del Friuli. The goal was immediately to give life to liquids linked to their place of origin, but which at the same time were able to stand out for body, persuasion and structure and judging by the success of the company, expectations are not only been achieved, but even largely exceeded.

Process: The Pinot Grigio wine from the Bastianich winery comes from Pinot Grigio grapes in purity from vineyards from the Cividale area, in the Colli Orientali del Friuli. The vines, aged between 5 and 25 years, rest on marly calcareous soils, with medium density guyot systems. The harvest takes place manually, so as to allow a careful selection of the best grapes first in the vineyard and then in the cellar. Thanks to the help of modern and avant-garde machinery, all the processes, from the vinification to the refinement that take place in steel, are perfectly managed and controlled. A further six-month aging on the fine lees gives greater complexity and richness to the liquid, which is then ready to be marketed.

Characteristics: Bastianich's white Pinot Grigio presents itself in a straw-colored yellow robe. The nose is immediately a succession of sensations linked to crunchy fresh fruit, such as golden apple and pear, which alternate with hints of white flowers among which linden and jasmine stand out. The sip is beautiful, full but at the same time extremely flowing, alternating the initial softness with a very refined salinity that emerges in the finish. It conquers for its almost boundless versatility.

Pairings: Excellent as an aperitif, it goes splendidly with purées, soups and salads. Excellent with a plate of vegetable couscous.

SIZE / WEIGHT: 0,75 l bottles.

ORIGIN: Friuli Venezia Giulia.

GRAPES: 100% Pinot Grigio.

ALCOHOL: 13% vol.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: Temperature between 4/8°.

STORAGE METHOD: in a cool place away from sunlight.

SPECIFIC NOTES: Contains sulphites.

PRODUCER: Bastianich Winery - Cividale del Friuli (UD).

Bastianich Winery

The wine we drink has an intense history, it is part of a tradition with very deep roots and often travels the whole world to arrive on our table.
