The Rosso Montepulciano DOCG Lodola Nuova was born in the Tenuta Lodola Nuova, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the ancient Montepulciano, in Tuscany, a land rich in winemaking traditions, from the estate's vineyards this wine is produced through careful selection in the vineyard of the best grapes. The harvest began at the end of September and ended in mid-October. It matures in barrels of different capacities, for at least 18 months, the refinement takes place after the assembly and a short period of rest in steel where the wine was bottled and further refined in the bottle. The perfume is immediately striking for the inviting intensity of the bouquet, declined on the fruity notes of ripe plum and on others of fresh flowers. Then, in all its fine grandeur, the spicy sweetness, the nut and a fragrant aroma of tobacco are perceived. In the mouth it has an immediate taste with the return of the fruity notes perceived on the nose. The tannin, of great texture, decisive but velvety, fades towards more rounded sensations. With an excellent body, the finish is persistent and satisfying with an almost sweet aftertaste but balanced by a good acidity, with hints of plum and tobacco. It goes well with meat-based first courses, red meat, game, aged cheeses, cured meats, mushrooms.

SIZE / WEIGHT: 0,75 l bottles

ORIGIN: Tuscany.

FEATURES: Noble wine with a deep ruby red colour.

GRAPES: 90% Cabernet, 5% Sauvignon, 5% Merlot.

ALCOHOL: 14% vol.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: Temperature between 14/18°.

STORAGE METHOD: in a cool place away from sunlight.

Rosso di Montepulciano is a Tuscan wine with which Poliziano makes a precise choice, based on the quality and identity of the territory. Instead of downgrading the grapes registered for the production of Nobile di Montepulciano, the winery goes beyond this simple operation - which often leads to selecting the least valuable grapes for the Rossi di Montepulciano - by identifying some vineyards with peculiar characteristics precisely to give rise to this denomination. This is how this young and fruity red is given life, with a good body and a more than pleasant sip.

Method: It comes from an assembly between Sangiovese and a great international variety, Merlot. The plants grow in vineyards located at a height above sea level between 280 and 350 meters, characterized by a clayey and silty subsoil, where there is also the presence of skeleton. The must ferments in stainless steel conical vats at a controlled temperature, with punching down that integrates the pumping over. Fermentation and maceration have a total duration of 12 days. Then follows the refinement, which has a duration of 8 months and is carried out in steel and in large barrels, for 20% of the total mass.

Features: This Red of Montepulciano develops in the glass with an intense and persistent ruby colour. The aromas that envelop the nose move on a texture made up of fruity and spicy notes, also enriched by woody touches and light references to humus. Full-bodied on the palate, enveloping on the palate, with a sip characterized by a fresh and savory taste, in which the tannins are well worked.

Pairings: perfect with meat roast-grilled, stewed red meat, game.

SIZE / WEIGHT: Bottles of 0 ,75 L

ORIGIN: Tuscany.

GRAPES: Sangiovese 80%, Merlot 20%.

ALCOHOL: 14% vol.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: Temperature between 12/18°C.

STORAGE METHOD: in a cool place away from sunlight.

SPECIFIC NOTES: Contains sulphites.

PRODUCER: Poliziano - Montepulciano Stazione (SI).

The Chianti San Lorenzo DOCG has a distinct and clear scent of raspberry and blackberry with hints of violet and iris. The taste is characterized by having a full, frank, savory, rightly tannic flavour, with a pleasant and persistent aftertaste of wild berry and almond jam.

Production: Sangiovese grosso grapes and complementary grapes are used for its production. The vineyard used for its production comes from the Chianti hills, an area traditionally suited for the happy combination of soil, exposure and climate. The vinification requires that the well-ripened grapes, harvested in October, after a cold pre-fermentative maceration of 3-4 days, are traditionally vinified in red.
The Nobile di Montepulciano selection 'Asinone' by Poliziano is produced only in the best vintages and the number of bottles produced reflects the quality of the vintage itself. It ages in barrique for 16-18 months before being bottled. On average, the production is around 20,000-40,000 bottles.

Method: This wine, produced in the municipality of Montepulciano, in the province of Siena, is obtained from grapes 100% Sangiovese from a single vineyard facing south, south-west and located on rolling hills at about 350-400 meters above sea level. The vines, which have different ages, are trained using the spurred cordon method on soils rich in skeleton characterized by clayey-loamy soils. The winery is a family-run business, owner of about 165 hectares of vineyards, today managed by Federico Carletti who, taking over the reins from his father, manages in a few years to propose an innovative and modern production philosophy, becoming one of the most appreciated names in the whole Tuscany. “Asinone” Nobile di Montepulciano di Poliziano is produced with carefully selected and hand-picked grapes in small crates towards the end of September. The bunches, taken to the cellar, are destemmed and delicately pressed to then carry out the alcoholic fermentation, with frequent daily pumping over, in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature with a maceration on the skins for about 20- 25 days. Subsequently, the racking off is carried out with pressing, after which the wine is aged in French oak tonneau for at least 16-18 months before being bottled and ready for marketing.

Characteristics: Poliziano's Nobile di Montepulciano "Asinone" has a beautiful bright ruby red color. Intense aromas of red fruit appear on the nose, including cherry and black cherry, floral notes of sour cherry and violet, hints of aromatic herbs, including laurel, oregano and rhubarb vegetables, before veering on slight hints of cinchona, coffee and resin. In the mouth it is rich, intense, full and enveloping, characterized by a velvety but well-present tannic texture and good freshness. This from the Poliziano winery is a complex and refined red with a persistent finish and played on notes of coffee.

Advice and pairings: Wine of great longevity, already remarkable if drunk now, but which we suggest you leave to rest in the cellar to better appreciate the great qualities that will mature over time. You can let it rest in the cellar for even more than 15 years. A demanding wine to be used on the most prestigious occasions, it finds its best match with savory main courses and aged cheeses. It is worth experimenting with the combination with "tegamaccio", a lake fish dish typical of the border area between Umbria and Tuscany, which is particularly tasty and therefore suitable.

SIZE / WEIGHT: 0,75 l bottles

ORIGIN: Tuscany.

GRAPES: 100% Sangiovese.

ALCOHOL: 14.5% vol.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: Temperature between 12/18°C.

STORAGE METHOD: in a cool place away from sunlight.

SPECIFIC NOTES: Contains sulphites.

PRODUCER: Poliziano - Montepulciano Stazione (SI).

Poliziano Winery History

Poliziano was born in 1961 when Dino Carletti bought the first nucleus of 22 hectares moved by a romantic and passionate vision for his native land. The company has grown over the years to reach the current 170 hectares all planted with vineyards. Its name is a tribute to the humanist and poet Angelo Ambrogini (1454-1494), known as the "Poliziano". Federico Carletti, Dino's son, after completing his agricultural studies, took over the company management in 1980. He immediately made a professional and philosophical breakthrough by studying and working only proprietary grapes (“Estate Winery”). Concentrated on quality viticulture, modern but respectful of the environment and tradition, he immediately obtains a Vino Nobile of great depth and quality from the high-density vineyards. Federico in pursuing quality and excellence in his wines has always renewed the techniques both in the countryside and in the cellar. International varieties were planted in the 1990s, but at the same time the local variety par excellence, Sangiovese, which in the Montepulciano area is known by the name of "Prugnolo Gentile", was studied and exalted. Strengthened by the great knowledge of the potential of the Montepulciano area, Federico, for almost twenty years now, has concentrated on the maximum exaltation and expression of the same in his wines; letting typicality and naturalness express themselves. This is why he dedicated himself to the production of "cru" of great notoriety. The family passion for wine and the territory continues with Francesco and Maria Stella, who today act as Federico's fundamental advisers to interpret and face current and future challenges.

It is to the prugnolo gentile grapes that characterize the Montepulciano area that Poliziano is given the most attentive care so that they express all the potential of a territory with a recognized wine-growing vocation. A Vino Nobile faithful to tradition.

Features: The aromas are intense with marked notes of blackberries, plums, sour cherries and hints of spices and tobacco. This is why he dedicated himself to the production of highly renowned "crus". The family passion for wine and the territory continues with Francesco and Maria Stella, who today act as Federico's fundamental advisers to interpret and face current and future challenges.

In the 1970s and 1980s, some ambitious winemakers began to shy away from the strict rules of Chianti Classico. Their dissatisfaction with the mediocrity of the contemporary Tuscan wine scene has unleashed a wave of creativity and experimentation with high quality grapes, clones and winemaking techniques. Querciabella was born in this specific context and Camartina not only laid the foundations for the high quality vinification of the company brand, but also started its rise to success. The flagship of Querciabella, it is one of the few historical wines, collectively known as Super Tuscans, which have considerably elevated the position and prestige of Italian wine production on the world stage.

Features: The color is an elegant, intense ruby red. The perfume exudes rich aromas of black and red berries including black cherries, blueberries, ripe plums and tamarind. Notes of ivy, undergrowth and freshly cut bark intertwine with hints of leather, sweet tobacco and licorice. The taste recalls pronounced flavors of ripe black fruit enriched with nutmeg and sweet spices.

Pairings: To be combined with substantial dishes such as red meat in stews, pasta, meat sauce, roasted and grilled meat, game.

Vineyards

The vineyards where the grapes for Camartina grow are all located in the immediate near the Ruffoli winery, on the hill of Greve in Chianti. With its marl soils and southern exposure, the Casaocci Sud vineyard offers the ideal environment for textbook Cabernet Sauvignon, here refined by lighter and more elevated notes. On a cooler slope, Poggerino's denser, clay-rich soils typically provide the structural backbone of the Cabernet, as well as the intensity and depth needed for successful aging. Sangiovese grows in selected vineyard blocks ranging from 350 m to 600 m asl with variable orientation, from south to south-west. At lower altitudes, marl and clayey soils give elegance to the wines while higher up the sandstones become prevalent, giving the Sangiovese a juicier vitality. Camartina is produced only in optimal vintages, while micro-vinification in small batches and extremely limited bottling guarantee artisanal excellence. A delicate but precise management of the fermentation in the French oak fermenters allows a beautiful integration of the tannins and the development of the structure. After the malolactic fermentation, the two cépages are aged separately for about 18 months in French oak barrels, up to 20% new, before selecting the best lots for the final blend. The wine comes out no earlier than 30 months after the harvest and, thanks to its longevity, is sure to be a contender for the best cellars.

SIZE / WEIGHT: 0,75 l bottles

ORIGIN: Tuscany.

GRAPES: Cabernet Sauvignon 70%, Sangiovese 30%.

ALCOHOL: 14% vol.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: Temperature between 12/18°C.

STORAGE METHOD: in a cool place away from sunlight.

SPECIFIC NOTES: Contains sulphites

PRODUCER: Società Agricola Querciabella SpA - Greve in Chianti (FI).

Agricola Querciabella

Giuseppe (Pepito) Castiglioni, industrial entrepreneur and lifelong wine lover, bought a single hectare of vineyard on a Tuscan hill and set about creating an estate that would soon encompass the breadth of the region. He dreamed of producing elegant and rich wines, obtained not only from native Sangiovese grapes, but also from those of his beloved Bordeaux and Burgundy. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc, just to name a few. Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni, Pepito's son, full-fledged investor and entrepreneur, converted the company to organic viticulture in 1988, making Querciabella one of the first wineries in Italy to make use of this practice. Under his leadership, Querciabella became known as one of Italy's best and most innovative winemakers in the early 20th century. Sebastiano's passion for animal rights and environmental protection has taken organic to Querciabella one step further. In 2000 Sebastiano introduced a 100% plant-based approach to biodynamics which prohibits the use of animal products in our vineyards or cellars. Querciabella was once again an innovator in the industry and an inspiration to the region. Today that single hectare in Tuscany is only a small part of the more than 100 hectares of Querciabella vineyards. And in these lively vineyards - flanked by n n the Chianti Classico region by oak woods and rolling hills, and in Maremma by the rugged beauty of an unspoilt Tuscan coast - all the grape varieties Pepito dreamed of now thrive in the rich, biodynamic soil that has become the most important ingredient in the award-winning recipes of Querciabella.
