Since 1997, the Prugnolo Gentile grapes, located in the most suitable areas of Montepulciano, have given life to the Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva TorCalvano. After the harvest the blend undergoes fermentation on the skins in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, to then mature in Slavonian oak barrels and French barriques for 24 months . The production processes end with the aging in the bottle for at least 12 months. At the time of tasting the wine appears with soft floral aromas and a silky and persistent taste, excellent to sip even after 30 years of ageing. TorCalvano is thus a Noble both in name and in fact.

Montepulciano, located between the Valdichiana and Val d'Orcia, in the province of Siena, is an area suited to the cultivation of Sangiovese di quality for over 300 years. In 1685, Francesco Redi, poet, doctor and naturalist, declared in his ditrambo "Bacchus in Tuscany": Montepulciano of every wine is King. The clone of Sangiovese grosso in the Montepulciano area is also called Prugnolo Gentile. The bunch is medium-small, winged and compact with a large berry with a resistant skin. All the denominations of Montepulciano are obtained from this vine, wines with a light ruby red color which, based on the method of vinification and refinement, are fresher or more suitable for long ageing.
