In 1049 Badia passed to the Vallombrosano order, a reformed branch of the Benedictines specialized in viticulture and silviculture. The chronicles of the monastery history report many suggestive events, including Galileo Galilei's stay in 1587-1588 as a mathematics teachers. He dreamed of producing elegant and rich wines, obtained not only from native Sangiovese grapes, but also from those of his beloved Bordeaux and Burgundy. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc, just to name a few. Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni, Pepito's son, full-fledged investor and entrepreneur, converted the company to organic viticulture in 1988, making Querciabella one of the first wineries in Italy to make use of this practice. Under his leadership, Querciabella became known as one of Italy's best and most innovative winemakers in the early 20th century. Sebastiano's passion for animal rights and environmental protection has taken organic to Querciabella one step further. In 2000 Sebastiano introduced a 100% plant-based approach to biodynamics which prohibits the use of animal products in our vineyards or cellars. Querciabella was once again an innovator in the industry and an inspiration to the region. Today that single hectare in Tuscany is only a small part of the more than 100 hectares of Querciabella vineyards. And in these vibrant vineyards – flanked in the Chianti Classico region by oak groves and rolling hills, and in the Maremma by the rugged beauty of an unspoilt Tuscan coast – all the grape varieties Pepito dreamed of now thrive in the rich, biodynamic soil that has become the most important ingredient in Querciabella's award-winning recipes.

The Antinori Vermentino was born in Bolgheri, in the splendid Guado al Tasso estate, one of the stars of the Antinori family's wine-growing Tuscany, together with those of Montalcino, Montepulciano, Cortona, Grosseto and Florence. Each vineyard parcel of this Vermentino from the Tuscan coast was harvested and vinified individually, so as to be able to combine wines from parcels with different characteristics and maturations in order to obtain a blend of superior quality . The wine thus obtained is a white which, thanks to the particular climatic conditions of the area, always expresses itself with harmony and freshness. An enveloping, balanced and very pleasant white, perfect to accompany the most diverse occasions.

Features: From the color bright straw yellow with greenish reflections , on the nose mineral, citrus and floral notes stand out, typical of the Bolgheri vine. A great lover of viticulture and having become the "major butler" of Grand Duke Leopold II in 1833, Guido Alberto devoted himself to oenology in his lands in Maremma. In the 1930s the land was inherited by Carlotta della Gherardesca Antinori, mother of Piero Antinori, and by her sister, who was married to Mario Incisa della Rocchetta (who had the nearby Tenuta San Guido as a dowry). The approximately 320 hectares of vineyards, located at an altitude of about 50 meters above sea level, are mainly cultivated with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Vermentino, the latter cultivated with both white and black berry. They enjoy a mild climate due to the nearby presence of the sea: the constant breezes mitigate the summer heat and the rigors of winter, clean the sky and keep the insolation index high. The soil of alluvial origin, from clayey-sandy to clayey-loamy, with the presence of Bolgheri agglomerate (skeleton), enhances the character and personality of the varietals through a great territorial identity.
