Awarded as one of the 100 best wines in the world by Wine Spectator, Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG Scacciadiavoli is a wine that will conquer even the most demanding palates. It shines in the glass in its intense ruby red with light garnet hues.

Features: Its bouquet is complex, intense, elegant and fruity with notes of small red fruits, citrus fruits, fresh spices and light balsamic notes. On the palate it has an excellent balance with good freshness and acidity. The tannin is well present and integrated into the structure, with a fruity, spicy and persistent aftertaste. The color is deep, the bouquet is sensual and the body is vigorous. A wine whose refinement is appreciated when young, when the fruit and spices blend with the taste of the wood, in which Sagrantino was elevated.

Pairings and recommendations: A classic to enjoy every day. Red with structure and great harmony, it goes perfectly with cold cuts and cured meats, first courses, red meats, game. To better appreciate it, it is preferable to let it 'breathe' at least 15-30 minutes before tasting it, if possible, in a goblet with a medium opening, ideal for light and medium-bodied red wines, which do not require oxygenation to open. The slightly narrower opening than the body of the glass favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting their dispersion.

SIZE / WEIGHT: Bottles of 0,75 l.

ORIGIN: Italy.

GRAPES: 100% Sagrantino.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16/18°C

ALCOHOL: 15, 5% vol.

STORAGE METHOD: Cool place away from sunlight.

SPECIFIC NOTES: Contains sulphites

PRODUCER: AZIENDA AGRARIA SCACCIADIAVOLI DI PAMBUFFETTI SOC.
Wine symbol of Montefalco and the neighboring hills, it is the essence of these lands, of those who work them and of their most ancient traditions. Made 100% with the grape that gives it its name, it has extraordinary complexity, power and longevity.

Characteristics: Intense, full-bodied, tannic and of great structure, Sagrantino comes from the vinification in purity of the homonymous Umbrian vine of probable Greek or Middle Eastern origins which was imported into Italy by missionary monks during the Middle Ages. It owes its name to the ancient Franciscan custom of using it to officiate sacred rites but today it is one of the most prestigious and sought-after Italian reds abroad.

Recommended pairings: Excellent with red meats and roasts, but excellent as a meditation wine.

SIZE / WEIGHT: Bottles of 0,75 l.

ORIGIN: Umbria.

GRAPES: Sagrantino.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: 18°/20°.

STORAGE METHOD: Place away from sunlight.

ALCOHOL: 15% vol.

SPECIFIC NOTES: Contains sulphites

PRODUCER: MIGLIOSI COSTANZA IMPRESA AGRICOLA

Cantine Migliosi

The toponym Ponte Rosso which names a stretch of this plain is clearly reference to the stream and the bridge of the same name which allows fording it. Typical expression of a unique vine on the international scene, for power, structure and longevity.

Process: Aging for 24 months in large barrels and a further 12 months in the bottle they allow a precise territorial identity and excellent immediate drinkability but open up to a potential for evolution that settles, at least, over 10 years.

Characteristics: Intense ruby red color , deep and impenetrable, the nose is a symphony of blackberry jam and blueberries, cherries in alcohol and carob, rose petals and wet earth, on a darker background of dark chocolate and licorice. Concentrated sip, with incredible tactile perception, almost chewable, it has power and persuasion at the same time, a moving tannin and a fresh-savory balance that refines everything. The balsamic persistence is infinite.

Pairings: A great wine for great meat dishes, which can also be combined with aged cheeses. For a typical traditional pairing, try it with Norcia black truffle duck. Cantalupo, Bevagna (PG).

Tenuta Castelbuono

Fascinated by an ancient and almost mystical land like Umbria and by a wine of extraordinary power and longevity such as Sagrantino, the Lunelli family acquired the Castelbuono Estate, 30 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Bevagna and Montefalco, in 2001. Efforts were initially concentrated on the vineyards, now converted to organic farming, with new plants and the enhancement of existing ones through an articulated selection project clones. In 2003 Montefalco Sagrantino was born, followed the following year by Montefalco Rosso. However, there was a need for a new cellar and the Lunelli family, by virtue of a solid and old friendship with Arnaldo Pomodoro, one of the greatest contemporary artists, proposed to him to create it. The Master accepted with enthusiasm and after the first inspection he had already imagined the project. The “Carapace” – as Pomodoro wanted to call the cellar – required six years of work and was inaugurated and open to the public, for visits and tastings, in June 2012. It is a unique work, which challenges the boundaries between sculpture and architecture. It is the first sculpture in the world in which people live and work, a unique work in which art and nature, sculpture and wine interact, underlining the exceptional nature of both the container and the content. It offers itself to the eye as a large dome covered in copper, engraved with cracks that recall the furrows of the earth that embrace it. A sculptural element in the shape of a red dart sticking into the ground underlines the work in the landscape. Entering the "Carapace" means entering a sculpture by Pomodoro, as immediately perceived by his artistic alphabet, immediately recognizable in the internal vault. A signature cellar for signature wines.
