The Sauvignon 'Michei' by Hofstatter is a fresh and finely aromatic white, with a refined and elegant profile. The nose offers a delicate range of nuances, ranging from aromas of gooseberry to aromas of white flowers, from hints of aromatic herbs to sensations of flint. The sip is of energetic freshness, with good palatal aromaticity, ripe fruit in the center of the mouth and a pleasant final vivacity. A hymn to the mountain!

  • Method: The Sauvignon vineyards are grown on mixed soils, with the presence of clays, porphyries, gravel and lime which give a natural minerality to the sip the final. The cool climate and the strong temperature changes between day and night temperatures, make the grapes ripen very slowly, greatly enriching them with aromatic finesse. Once the harvest phase is over, maceration on the skins takes place for about 8 hours, followed by a very soft pressing. The must ferments and ages in steel tanks for a few months before being put on the market.
  • Characteristics: Hofstatter's Sauvignon "Michei" represents a lean and refined version of this famous international variety, with the typical fresh and mineral profile characteristic of mountain wines. In the glass it has a light yellow color with greenish reflections. The olfactory picture expresses aromas of elderberry, nettle, aromatic herbs, gooseberry aromas with mineral nuances of flint. The attack on the palate is vibrant, with the center of the mouth with rich and intense fruit and a finish of great freshness and persistence.
  • Pairings: To be combined with fish, vegetables or meat white, it is ideal to accompany asparagus with Maltese sauce.

Estate J. Hofstätter

For five generations our family has been cultivating its vineyards on both sides of the Adige valley. Located in the heart of the historic village of Termeno, our estate extends between the peaks of nearby Trentino and the steep slopes of the Saar, in the Moselle wine region, in Germany. We combine tradition, pioneering spirit, respect for nature and innovation. We love what we do: we live wine. The different terroirs and the different microclimates determine the character of our wines. For five generations we have been cultivating each vine where it can best express itself. Our own vineyards extend on both sides of the Adige valley and at the end of the Ronchi valley in Trentino. Since 2014 we have been producing our Rieslings in the Moselle, the most suitable wine-growing area in Germany in the world for this noble variety. Our vines have their roots on plateaus and hills at altitudes ranging between 250 and 850 metres. Depending on which slope they are located on, the rows are reached by fresh mountain breezes or warm south winds, by the morning or evening sun. Ours was the first South Tyrolean company to bring the "Vigna" on the label, identifying the wines that come from single vineyards, in the most suitable parcels.
