With the award obtained at the International Wine Challenge in London in 1997, Pelago entered the list of the most sought-after Italian wines in the world. Born from an intuition of the Umani Ronchi group of technicians, who decided to combine Montepulciano with Cabernet Sauvignon, Pelago is a wine that preserves the style and personality of the native grapes, together with the complexity and aromatic profile of the Bordeaux grapes. Its name derives from the ancient Greek pelagos, sea, which suggests the marine character and the typical organoleptic peculiarities of the wines produced near the coasts.
