Louis Brochet

At the foot of the Montagne de Reims, the Domaine Louis Brochet has been located in the village of Ecueil since the 19th century. The four successive generations of grape harvesters-manipulators have since then perpetuated their passion for the vine and their meticulous work on the terroir with respect for the purest Champagne know-how. The result of a particular selection and a masterful technique, it is the Pinot noir d'Ecueil meticulously worked over the years that instills finesse and character in the Champagne Louis Brochet. Grandmother of the family since the 19th century, Marie Arsène Brochet selects with the greatest care the best vines from her vineyard by applying a line of varnish on their trunk. Already the search for a very particular quality and typicality of the terroir was at the center of her concerns. Only the vines marked for three consecutive years were selected to then be harvested and grafted. This mass selection technique has since made it possible to develop the exceptional character of Pinot Noir d'Ecueil, a grape variety which today represents ¾ of the production of Champagne Louis Brochet. It is all the passion for the terroir and the attachment to her vineyard that she passed on to her son Louis Brochet. Born in 1881, just 100 years before his great-grandson, Louis Brochet was lulled by the rhythm of the Champagne harvest. It is through the transmission of meticulous gestures but above all of the passion that inhabited his mother that he too became passionate about the vine and made it his profession. The years have passed and the magnificent harvests have arrived to greet an intense and innovative work, Louis Brochet marks a turning point in the history of the family. He will be at the origin of the first label that presents "Champagne Louis Brochet", as part of a brand identity approach that was innovative and ambitious for the time. He is a character who has marked the history of the family, to whom his descendants Hélène and Louis Brochet wanted to pay homage years later, in 2011, by giving their name to the brand. Accompanied by his wife Yvonne Hervieux, Henri Brochet (son of Louis) was the first to really set up the Domaine's champagne development and marketing business. Entrepreneurs at heart and with a strong character, both bring a new dimension to family businesses and have this desire to make the Champagne they produce more widely known. They build their brand and thus sign the commercial beginning of the Domaine, which will prove to be promising since the Domaine Brochet-Hervieux will carry the family champagne for nearly 70 years. Alain Brochet, also accompanied by his wife Brigitte, has also perpetuated family values and this relentless pursuit of quality following in the footsteps of his father Henri. He has developed the collection-manipulation business, the inheritance and the family know-how to offer exceptional champagnes, blends of meticulousness and passion. Very attached to his children Hélène and Louis, the transmission takes place over the years. The year 2013 marks a turning point. Hélène e Louis take over the estate with the aim of continuing the work of his father and of the previous 4 generations. Hélène, engaged in the sector since 2005, is at the origin of the modernization of communication, and of its commercial development, especially in exports, which represents 30% of the activity. Louis signs his first personal creation "la Cuvée extra noir" in 2010. An oenologist by training, it is the delicate mission of fusion that fascinates him. In the vineyard and in the cellar, he combines technicality and creation day after day. Together, the brother and sister perpetuate the values of the estate by modernizing it, always with the same goal since 1881: to create exceptional champagnes.
